Dal Gosht (Spicy meat and lentil curry)

Nourishing meals:DAL GOSHT

Serves: 6-8 People(Soaking time to soften lentils:2-3 hours)

Time Required: 60 Minutes

INGREDIENTS

1. 1 kg mutton;

2. ¼ kg gram (channa) dal;

3. 100gms yellow split pea lentil (toovar dal) ;

4. 100gms red gram (masoor) ;

5. 25gms rice;

6. 3 tomatoes;

7. 2 onions;

8. 2 sticks cinnamon;

9. 1 black cardamom;

10. 4 cloves; turmeric powder;

11. 1 tbsp oil;

12. red chilly powder; curry powder; salt;

13. ginger garlic paste;

14. fresh coriander, a few leaves fresh green mint (pudina);

METHOD

For Dal:

1. Soak the lentils: – gram (channa) dal;

2. yellow split pea lentil (toovar dal);

3. red gram (masoor) ;

4. 25gms rice in warm water for 1 hour

For Meat:

1. Marinate meat in ginger garlic paste

2. Cut one onion fine, brown a little in 1 tbs oil.

3. Sauté 1 chopped tomato with the onions

4. Add red chilly powder; turmeric powder; 1 tbsp red chilly powder; curry powder; salt and mix well.Add the marinated meat and stir well.

5. Add 2 cups water and cook till meat is well cooked.

6. Add the cooked lentil mixture into the cooked meat simmer for ½ an hour.

7.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and mint leaves.
